Real Companhia Velha (kurz RCV) feierte 2006 ihren 250. Geburtstag! Die Firma - auch bekannt unter dem men 'Royal Oporto Wine Company' wurde 1756 mit dem Auftrag zur ,Aufrechterhaltung des Anbaus von Rebstöcken der Erhaltung und der Erzeugung von Wein in seiner natürlichen Reinheit mit Nutzen für die Landwirtschaft, den Handel und die öffentliche Gesundheit gegründet. Bis zum Jahr 1865 war Real Companhia Velha auch dieegulierungsbehörde für die Ausfuhr der Portweine, die damals ca. 50 Prozent des portugiesischen Exports ausmachten.
Real Companhia Velha (RCV for short) celebrated its 250th birthday in 2006! The company - also known as the Royal Oporto Wine Company - was founded in 1756 with the mandate to maintain the cultivation of vines, to preserve and to produce wine in its natural purity with benefits for agriculture, trade and public health. Until 1865, Real Companhia Velha was also the regulatory authority for the export of port wines, which at that time made up around 50 percent of Portuguese exports.
